Tokyo Marui AEP & Electric SMG Buckings
Tokyo Marui AEP (electric pistol) and electric SMG guns use a SHORT compact bucking, not the long standard AEG one. The same compact part covers the TM G18C, M93R, USP, M9A1, Hi-Capa E, MP7A1, Scorpion VZ.61 and MAC10, and it is also what the Next Generation MP5 and Mk46 take. Because these are compact-chamber guns, buying a normal AEG bucking is the usual mistake.

Commonly confused: these do NOT interchange
- AEG buckings The AEP bucking is shorter than the standard AEG bucking and is not interchangeable with it. Some parts are cut and sold for both AEG and AEP, and those appear on both pages.
Proprietary & exception chambers
- Which guns take the AEP compact bucking?: The Tokyo Marui AEP line: G18C, M93R, USP, M9A1, Hi-Capa E, MP7A1, Scorpion VZ.61 and MAC10. Cyma and other clones of those guns use the same compact standard, which is why parts are sold as "AEP" generally rather than per model.
- Next Gen MP5 and Mk46 use the AEP bucking: The Tokyo Marui Next Generation MP5 and Mk46 take the AEP compact bucking rather than the standard AEG one. Laylax and Nine Ball list this explicitly on their AEP buckings, which is how we verified it. The rest of the Next Gen line uses the standard AEG bucking.
- Parts sold for both AEG and AEP: A few buckings are cut and listed for both standards, for example the Nine Ball Air Seal Chamber Bucking for Tokyo Marui AEG / AEP. Those genuinely serve both and appear on both pages. What does not work is putting a standard-length AEG bucking into an AEP chamber.

TM AEP bucking buying guide
Why AEP needs its own bucking
AEP guns use a compact hop-up chamber sized for a short inner barrel, so the bucking is physically shorter than the AEG part. A standard AEG bucking will not seat correctly. Look for the word AEP, "compact" or "electric SMG" in the listing.
Hardness (degree)
AEPs are low-power guns, commonly under 250 FPS, so a softer bucking gives better grip and a more usable hop. Begadi and PDI both sell 50 degree AEP buckings for exactly this reason, and Nine Ball / Laylax compact soft parts are the common upgrade. A hard bucking on a low-FPS AEP tends to under-hop.
What to check before you buy
Confirm the listing says AEP, compact or electric SMG. If you run a Next Gen MP5 or Mk46, this is the page you want rather than the standard AEG one. Cyma AEP clones take the same parts as the Marui originals.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a normal AEG bucking in an AEP?
No. The AEP chamber is compact and takes a shorter bucking. A standard-length AEG bucking will not seat correctly. Buy a part listed for AEP, compact or electric SMG use.
What bucking does a Tokyo Marui Next Gen MP5 use?
The Next Gen MP5 and the Next Gen Mk46 take the AEP compact bucking, not the standard AEG one. Laylax and Nine Ball state this on their AEP bucking listings.
Do Cyma AEPs use the same bucking as Marui AEPs?
Yes. Cyma and other clones of the Marui AEP guns use the same compact standard, which is why aftermarket parts are sold as AEP parts generally.
How many TM AEP buckings does Airsoft Upgrades track?
We currently track 13 distinct TM AEP hop-up buckings across 15 retailers, starting at $5.68.
