The APS2 chamber is the second big airsoft bolt-action standard, separate from the Tokyo Marui VSR-10. It covers the Type 96 / L96 / AWP family and their clones from Well, Action Army, Snow Wolf, Double Eagle and others, plus the Novritsch SSG96. APS2 buckings are a different part to VSR buckings, so the first thing to establish is which of the two families your rifle belongs to. Listings that name both an APS2 host and a VSR host genuinely fit both and appear on both pages.

Commonly confused: these do NOT interchange
- VSR-10 / Bolt-Action Sniper buckings APS2 and VSR-10 are two different bolt-action chamber standards. A bucking listed only for one is not a drop-in for the other, though plenty of buckings are cut and sold for both and those appear on both pages.
Proprietary & exception chambers
- Which rifles are APS2 rather than VSR?: The Type 96 platform and everything built on it: the original APS2, the Well MB01, MB05, MB08 and MB14, the L96 and AWP pattern rifles, Action Army and AIM Top Type 96 parts, and Novritsch SSG96 Mk1 and Mk2. Several retailers list these hosts together in one product title, which is the clearest confirmation that they share the chamber.
- The Novritsch trap: Novritsch rifles split across both standards. The SSG96 (Mk1 and Mk2) is APS2 / Type 96. The SSG24 and SSG10 are VSR-spec. Buying by brand rather than model is the most common way people end up with the wrong bucking here.
- Cross-listed buckings are real: Some buckings are genuinely made for both families, for example parts listed as "VSR / L96 / GBB" or "Marui VSR-10 / L96". Those are not a mistake and they appear on both this page and the VSR page. What you should not do is assume a VSR-only bucking will work in an APS2 chamber.

How to identify your chamber
Look for the rifle family in the listing title rather than the brand. Type 96, L96, AWP, APS2, MB01 / MB05 / MB08 / MB14 and SSG96 are all APS2. VSR-10, BAR-10, SSG24, SSG10 and G-Spec / Pro-Spec are VSR. If the title names both, it fits both.
Hardness (degree) for a bolt-action
APS2 rifles are used the same way as VSR rifles: heavier BBs (0.36g to 0.48g) at moderate FPS, so a medium bucking in the 60 to 70 degree range is the usual starting point, tuned to your actual chronograph reading and BB weight. Aim for enough grip to lift a heavy BB without over-hopping.
Flat-hop and R-hop
Precision bolt-action shooters run flat-hop and R-hop on APS2 rifles for the same reason they do on VSR rifles. A flat-hop bucking needs a matching flat nub, and R-hop needs a patch bonded into the barrel window, which is a more involved install. Maple Leaf, Action Army, TNT and PPS all make parts aimed at this family.
What to check before you buy
Confirm the listing names an APS2 family host, not just "sniper". Do not substitute a VSR-only bucking. If you own a Novritsch rifle, check the exact model number first.

No. APS2 / Type 96 and VSR-10 are two different bolt-action chamber standards with different buckings. Some buckings are made and listed for both families, and those do fit both, but a VSR-only bucking is not a drop-in for an APS2 chamber.
What bucking does a Novritsch SSG96 use?
The SSG96 is APS2 / Type 96, so it takes an APS2 family bucking. The Novritsch SSG24 and SSG10 are the VSR-spec models, which is a common source of confusion.
