About Real PP-19-01 Vityaz Rifle The Vityaz was developed as a more conventional successor to the unique PP-19 Bizon, which used a helical magazine. Based on feedback from Russian special forces units, designers created the Vityaz to use standard box magazines, making it more reliable and ergonomic. It is heavily based on the AK-74 platform, sharing about 70% parts commonality with it, which makes it incredibly reliable, familiar to soldiers, and easy to maintain. It is chambered for the widely used 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge. A key feature of its design is its ability to effectively fire Russia's high-pressure 7N21 and 7N31 (+P+) armor-piercing rounds, giving it significant penetration capability against body armor. The weapon uses a closed-bolt, blowback-operated system, which contributes to its good accuracy, especially in semi-automatic mode.
