This rifle was seen in literally every continent in the world (except Antarctica) and has been featured and seen in both major conflicts and minor skirmishes from the 1950s, from the Vietnam War and the Rhodesian Bush Wars of the Cold War era to Middle Eastern Insurgencies today in Syria and Iraq. As time went on, the LAR, once called the "Right Arm of the Free World" began to show its age - the downsides mainly being too heavy and lacking modern modular features. To address these issues, a modernized version was conceived in the 1990s. This updated model kept the classic LAR design while introducing several improvements to meet modern combat needs. First, the LAR OSW used lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum and improved manufacturing techniques to reduce its overall weight. It also featured a redesigned Picatinny rail system, making it easier to mount optics, tactical lights, and other essential accessories.
