About Glock 19X MOS The Glock 19X MOS is a specific model of pistol that represents a blend of two of Glock's most popular designs. It was originally created for the U.S. military's competition to find a new sidearm, and while it didn't win that particular contract, it was later released to the civilian market due to popular demand. The "19X" designation refers to its hybrid nature. It takes the compact slide of a Glock 19 and pairs it with the full-size frame of a Glock 17. This means you get a shorter, more maneuverable slide up front, which is beneficial for quick handling and holstering, combined with a larger grip that allows for a higher magazine capacity and a more comfortable, secure hold for shooters with larger hands. The frame also features a flared magazine well to make reloading faster and easier. The "MOS" part of the name stands for Modular Optic System. This is a factory modification to the pistol's slide that allows you to mount a miniature red dot sight directly onto the firearm. Instead of needing to send the slide to a machine shop for custom work, the MOS system uses a series of removable adapter plates that fit a wide variety of the most popular optic footprints on the market. To complement this optic-ready system, the pistol comes from the factory with taller, suppressor-height iron sights. These sights are tall enough that you can still see them through the window of a mounted red dot, or use them if the optic were to fail, a setup known as co-witnessing. The pistol is chambered in 9mm and features Glock's Marksman barrel, which is designed for improved accuracy. Aesthetically, it is recognizable by its coyote, or flat dark earth, finish on both the frame and the slide. There are a couple of variations available, one with a standard 4.02-inch barrel and another, often a distributor exclusive, that comes with a threaded barrel for attaching a suppressor or compensator. It typically ships with a combination of 17-round and 19-round magazines. A
